Now let us tell you about the role:

Reporting to the Operations Director the Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient receipt and processing of waste.  

  • To ensure that all Health and Safety systems and procedures are put into practice at all times. This part of the role will include carrying out Risk Assessments and implementing appropriate Safe Systems of Work. All HSW work will be monitored and audited by The Compliance Manager.
  • To ensure that all waste delivered to the sites is checked upon arrival, booked in correctly, priced correctly, tipped in the correct area and processed in line with operational policy and the Environmental Management System.
  • To ensure that waste is processed effectively, efficiently and in line with targets for waste rotation, maximised recycling and minimised landfill.
  • To ensure that the operators delivers optimum performance at all times including sorting and picking at a pace and standard that ensures business plans are achieved.
  • To ensure that all operators hours are recorded correctly and communicated to payroll by the required time each Monday. In addition all holiday entitlements and days taken are to be recorded accurately and holiday forms sent to payroll promptly together with any additional HR requirement fulfilled to the required company standard.
  • To ensure that labour headcount and costs are within budgeted targets.
  • To provide weekly reports and KPI’s as required by the Operations Director.
  • To carry out investigations and corrective actions relating to all aspects of operations on sites including accidents, incidents and service performance failures.
  • To report as required to the Operations Director.
